‘God of War’ Game Director Gets Called Out By Fans Now That Gameplay Trailer Has Over 15 Million Views
Arianne GiftThe "God of War" gameplay trailer premiered at E3 2016, which prompted a promise from its director, Cory Barlog, who said he would do "something" when the trailer reaches 15 million views. It's at 15,035,711 as of this writing, and fans have noticed that, too. Now, Barlog's Twitter feed is being swarmed by gamers asking for that "something."
The milestone has now been reached, and while "God of War's" game director hasn't revealed what's in store for fans, he tweeted it won't be on the level of a new video. The surprise won't be a demo, as well, as "demos take a ton of time to prepare, so unfortunately that is just not possible," said Barlog via PlayStation Lifestyle.
@mostafayahya0_0 oh crap, are we close to 15m? :) well i said i would do something so i will keep to my word.

@Richard_Dias327 said I would do something, but definitely not on a the level of a new trailer though. — Cory Barlog (@corybarlog) January 9, 2017
Apart from numerous fans asking for a new trailer, some "God of War" demos and whatnot, Barlog's Twitter is also filled with congratulatory remarks for hitting the 15-million milestone. Before taking his holiday break, the game director said he would finish the game's playthrough with the leads. When asked about his New Year's resolution, Barlog only cast his concerns for the game. "Hmmm, my resolution? To not f**k this game up," he replied.
The previous entries for "God of War" were based on the Greek Mythology. This time, devs have taken Kratos to the Norse Mythology, which has Thor, Loki and Odin. Barlog did confirm previously that the upcoming game is the start of a new saga, spilling the news on Twitter still.
The games have always been linear, in the sense that players are tasked to defeat enemies and solve puzzles before moving on to the next. This time, however, there are going to be alternate paths to give players a more dynamic gameplay.
"God of War" will launch exclusively for PlayStation 4 and is in development by Santa Monica Studio. It will be published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is still in a TBA release date.
