Move Your Way Along Downtown Las Vegas With This Self-Driving Bus
Caroline Soriano2017 has just arrived but it has already catered several techs that have provided more convenience. One of which is the self-driving bus that roams around the city of Las Vegas. On January 20, "Sin City's" residents have the privilege to be the first to ride the fully autonomous bus.
Navya Arma, the 12-seat vehicle, will drive its way along the city for two weeks, ferrying passengers from east Fremont Street to Las Vegas Boulevard to Eight Street and back. The course is near the Vegas main strip and McCarren International Airport. According to International Business Times, the Paris-based Navya is capable of driving itself at the maximum speed of 27 miles per hour, however, it is allowed to only have until 12mph for the trial period.
The autonomous bus, Navya Arma, will be free during the test period between 10 in the morning and up to 6 in the night. After the trial period, the self-driving bus is hoped to come back for a full service which will start by late summer or on the autumn season. It is estimated to cost around $10,000 a month however it is expected to be included in the revenue generated by the ads inside and outside of the shuttle.
Compared to the other vehicles of the same type, Navya Arma utilizes different systems to help it move as safe as possible and this includes GPS tech and radar. The electric autonomous shuttle is the first therefore, it needs to have a well-recognized list of needs for it to run smoothly and perfectly.
Carolyn Goodman, the mayor of Las Vegas, has already tried the high-tech shuttle herself on Wednesday for the inaugural ride while speaking to the reporters, saying: "Being the control freak that I am, I was very nervous to get on this vehicle, but it is clean, has beautiful air and moves sort of swiftly but so beautifully."
