Vinay PatelXiaomi's Redmi Note 4X surfaced online just a couple of weeks ago and now, the Chinese smartphone maker's Redmi Note 5 has been certified by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (US FCC).
The certification spills the beans about the device's specs and features, with one leak alluding to the price tag it is likely to carry. If this comes to fruition, the launch event could take place sometime before the end of January.
Although the internet is brimming with all sorts of speculations about the Redmi Note 5's specs, features, and other details. Surprisingly, the rumored handset has not been subject to leaked photos or renders.
Nevertheless, if the specifications prophesied by the FCC certification (spotted by TheLeaker) are anything to go by, the upgrades coming to the Redmi Note 5 are not likely to sweep smartphone lovers off their feet.
The minor updates are said to encompass a better chipset, more internal storage, and more RAM. The Redmi Note 5 will be running on Android 7.0 Nougat OS-based MIUI 9 out-of-the-box, Xiaomi's own proprietary skin.
Xiaomi's Redmi Note 5 will come with a 5.5 inch full HD (1080p) display. Under the hood, it will either pack MediaTek's 64-bit Helio X25 deca-core SoC with eight Cortex A53 cores + two Cortex A72 cores or Qualcomm's 64-bit Snapdragon 652 octa-core SoC with four Cortex A53 cores + four Cortex A72 cores.
If Xiaomi sticks to its release pattern, the Snapdragon variant could be headed to India, with the MediaTek variant hitting store shelves in other Asian countries including China. The Redmi Note 5 will have 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB onboard storage.
Furthermore, Xiaomi's Redmi Note 5 is expected to sport a 16MP primary camera and an 8MP front shooter for the selfie addicts. It will pack a robust 4,000mAh battery equipped with Quick Charge 3.0 support. In terms of connectivity, the Redmi Note 5 will offer Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11n, GPS, and USB Type-C port to facilitate charging and data transfer, BGR reported.
