iPhone 5 19-Pin Dock Connector May Get 30-Pin Adapter After All

Apple is doing a lot of experimenting with its upcoming iPhone 5. After "pre-scheduling" its launch date, Apple is indulging in user experience enhancements by offering something innovative. The iOS giant is planning to release an adapter for the iPhone 5 that will help connect the phone to old Apple accessories and are compatible with the 30-pin adapter, which Apple has been using in various iDevices since the first iPod era.

Initially, in February, there were reports that Apple was planning to shrink the iPhone 5 Dock connector. It is also said that this new smaller version of Dock connector will make the accessories for previous Apple gadgets obsolete.

The new adapter would resemble a 19-pin Dock connector and will replace the current 30-pin connector. The adapter will offer easy solutions for clients, who had already purchased the previous Apple gadgets, as it will be compatible with a majority of existing iPhone accessories. Additionally, the switch to the new port is also designed in such a way so as to free up the space for the LTE chipset and packs a battery that's more powerful.

This new adapter for the MagSafe power connector will help ensure that the network devices such as MacBooK Air are compatible with it. The innovation just doesn't end here. iPhone 5 would also comprise a nano-SIM, which would be a tad smaller when compared to the current-generation micro-SIM. Additionally, an in-cell display will also help reduce the screen thickness.

IDC researcher Francisco Jeronimo told the Telegraph earlier this week about the possibility that third-party accessories for the iOS ecosystem would be made obsolete. He said "Apple needs to find a solution not to disappoint their current clients who want to upgrade to the new iPhone but are tied to an expensive accessory that [they] have bought."

The Dock connector wouldn't need to do everything like it did initially. The iCloud, PC-Free as well as Wi-Fi sync and AirPlay will help in offsetting connectivity to wireless.

A lot has been said about the adapter; however, it is still not clear whether the adapter would come as a part of iPhone or if the users would have to bear additional costs to purchase it.

The all new, compact Dock connector is expected to debut during the iPhone 5 launch events. Tech pundits believe that the accessory industry would highly benefit from this innovation.
