Microsoft Kinect is not working out so well when it comes to video games, so how about throwing it into the trash? Not in a literal sense, but you'll get what we mean by than in a sec. A Japanese modder did something awesome with the help of Kinect; he created an automatic trashcan that is able to track where you throw trash, and moves to catch it before it falls to the ground.

You might be saying to yourself, this is not possible, but alas, it is. The Japanese modder hooked up a Kinect sensor at the top of his room, then proceeded to write some code that allows Kinect to move a trashcan he built into the correct spot where the trash will fall.
What we saw on the video below, is truly impressive, and is probably the first Kinect hack that seems to have any real world use. The modder said he needs to sharpen the system accuracy a little bit. But from what has been shown, we wouldn't have a problem using this trashcan on a daily basis in the state it is in right now.
Now, if only he could invent one that takes the trash out. That would be something, wouldn't it?
