'NCIS: Los Angeles,' 'Crossing Jordan' Actor Succumbs To Cancer

"NCIS: Los Angeles" star Miguel Ferrer passed away on Jan. 19, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. He was 61 years old.

"NCIS: Los Angeles" showrunner R. Scott Gemmill stated that the show lost a beloved family member on Thursday. He described Ferrer as a man of tremendous talent with a powerful dramatic presence on screen, a wicked sense of humor and a big heart. He forwarded their sentiments to Miguel's wife, Lori, two sons, Lukas and Rafi, and the rest of his family. Gemmill added that the "NCIS: Los Angeles" actor will be greatly missed.

Yahoo reports that Ferrer is best known for his roles on "Crossing Jordan" and "NCIS: Los Angeles." Ferrer played Assisant Director Owen Granger on "NCIS: Los Angeles." He previously appeared in the January 15 episode, where he was implicated as a mole after being framed for assaulting a woman he met at a bar. On "Crossing Jordan," Ferrer took on the role of Dr. Garret Macy, a medical examiner.

The "NCIS: Los Angeles" actor also appeared on "Twin Peaks" as Albert Rosenfield, an FBI forensics expert. He reprised his role in "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" in 1992. He also appeared again for the same role in the upcoming "Twin Peaks" revival on Showtime.

Deadline writes that the "NCIS: Los Angeles" actor is the son of Jose Ferrer and Rosemary Clooney. He is also a cousin of actor George Clooney. Ferrer started his career in the 1980s with fans becoming more familiar with him after his breakout role in "Robocop" in 1987. He also made an impact after starring opposite Jill Hennessy on "Crossing Jordan." The actor also starred opposite Michelle Ryan in "Bionic Woman" and "The Protector."

Ferrer joined "NCIS: Los Angeles" in 2012, opposite Linda Hunt, Chris O'Donnell, LL Cool J and others. He has appeared in over 40 movies and several TV shows. His role in the military and police drama was his biggest.
