'Pokemon Sun and Moon' Guide: Tips And Tricks To Catch Ditto

S. Turla

There's a lot to do in Nintendo's "Pokemon Sun and Moon" aside from catching Pokemon and battling other trainers. Eager players can also take advantage of the Pokemon breeding feature to make sure that their future Pokemon have the best stats in the game.

According to Gearnuke, breeding usually requires two Pokemon of the same type. However, breeders can also start the process with only one of their desired Pokemon, as long as they have a Ditto.

Ditto is a unique Pokemon that can "breed with any Pokemon" to produce an egg. This breeding method has been used in earlier versions of the games, and is also possible in "Pokemon Sun and Moon."

If you wish to catch Ditto, do take note that you can only do so at the third Island in the 3DS game. Once players complete the challenges on Melemele Island and Akala Island, you can now travel to Ula'Ula Island.

At Ula'Ula Island, you will first step foot in Malie City. Head to the dirt path on the west side of the city, then go to the Bus Stop. Then, take a bus to Hokulani Observatory, and after getting off start walking south. Keep walking until you reach a patch of tall grass. This is where you can catch Ditto.

Ditto won't prove much of a challenge in "Pokemon Sun and Moon," but players will do well to prepare before trying to catch this particular Pokemon. Keep in mind that Ditto has the ability to turn into the Pokemon that you will use to fight him. As long as your Pokemon are strong enough, there is a chance that you can one-hit KO Ditto, which is a weak Pokemon.

US Gamer adds that players can also use Quick Balls to catch Ditto faster. You can also use Ultra Balls when trying to catch a Ditto for breeding.

Gamers can also use the Global Trade System (GTS) to trade for a Ditto. It is also possible to import a Ditto from a previous version of the game using the Pokemon Bank. Do keep in mind that you can't get a Ditto via breeding and that two Dittos can't breed with each other.
