Regardless of whether or not Nina Dobrev is going to reprise her role in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 as Elena Gilbert, fans can expect to get a lot of the said character. Because of Sybil, Damon’s mind will constantly be flooded with memories of Elena.

This arc will continue to go on as the show barrels toward “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 finale - which has reportedly been already scheduled for March 10 this year. Since the series’ eighth season began, Sybil has been warping Damon’s memories with images of his sleeping beauty, Elena.

In the upcoming episode, though, she will kick things up a notch by taking part in Mystic Falls’ most iconic event, the Miss Mystic Falls pageant. This pageant was the beginning of Damon and Elena’s love story.

As seen in recently released promo videos for “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8, Sybil will copy the Miss Mystic Falls look of Nina Dobrev’s character. Sybil may look like she is succeeding with her evil plans, but Ian Somerhalder had revealed to TV Line that Elena will be “always ever present.”

“Elena never really left,” Somerhalder revealed. “She plays a great deal into Damon’s morality, his understanding of who he is - especially in these last episodes.”

Although it may not look like it, Somerhalder revealed that his character is still trying to do things that he thinks Elena will approve of. “She is still the light in his life - even cast in the darkness of her absence,” he added.

Unfortunately for “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 fans, Ian Somerhalder would not say more regarding a possible Nina Dobrev return in time for the series finale. “How much she is going to physically play into things, I am not really sure,” he said.
