Vinay PatelXiaomi is likely to unveil an array of awe-inspiring products in 2017. One of the most anticipated among them is the next generation of its smartphones, the Mi 6, which the Beijing-based handset maker is likely to launch in mid-March this year.
A report from Chinese publication MyDrivers, (via GizmoChina) hints at a mid-March launch for the Xiaomi Mi 6 smartphone, with the trial production for the device starting sometime next month.
Rumors are running rampant online indicating that the Xiaomi Mi6 would be announced at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2017. However, Xiaomi has neither confirmed nor denied these rumors.
The Mi 6 is expected to sport a dual-tone design coupled with metal back. A home button that doubles as a fingerprint sensor will be placed below the display.
While the regular version of the Mi 6 is expected to come with a flat screen LCD display, the 'Pro' variant, on the other hand, would sport a dual-edge curved OLED display. There's hearsay that the 'Pro' variant could feature a dual-rear camera module.
Qualcomm's 835 SoC is likely to fire up the Mi 6. Moreover, Xiaomi's next generation flagship smartphone could boast an OLED panel and 2K display.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 Standard variant is rumored to receive 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The Xiaomi Mi 6 Premier will come with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Meanwhile, Xiaomi Mi 6 Youth would be powered by MediaTek Helio X30, according to GizChina.
In the photography front, the Mi 6 will feature a 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor and a 4MP front shooter for the selfie addicts. Furthermore, the Mi 6 could also sport a USB Type-C port to facilitate faster charging and data transfer. If latest reports proved to be true, the Mi 6 would run on MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
The price for the MediaTek version of the Mi 6 could start at RMB 1,999 (about $292). The Qualcomm variant with 4GB of RAM coupled with 128GB storage could come bearing a price tag of (about $364). The Pro version sporting dual-edge curved OLED display, 6GB of RAM and a mammoth 256GB storage could be priced at RMB 2,999 ($437).
