Samsung Galaxy S6 & Galaxy S6 Edge Nougat Update: Wi-Fi Certification Received, Might Come Sooner Than Expected
CJ EstimadaThe two-year-old Galaxy S6 will be one of the dozen Samsung handhelds to get the awaited latest version of its mobile software -- the Android 7.0 Nougat. While there's still no specific date as to when, according to sources, it will be sooner than later.
The S6 Edge, the original A-Series, and a few tablets will be included, as well. The OS is loaded with new features and refinements, each one carrying an improvement to the overall Android experience.
Galaxy S6 Gets Green Light From WFA
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge handhelds are all set to receive the Nougat update, as a device with model number SM-G920V and Android version 7.0 has been certified by the WiFi Alliance (WFA). So far, there's no confirmation on the SM-G925, AKA the Galaxy S6 Edge, but that should come next fast.
The Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, however, is already spreading. The South Korean company has also listed other devices that will be getting Nougat in H1 2017, reports GSM Arena.
Android Nougat 7.0 Features
Google's operating system is everywhere, and it just keeps getting better. With Android 7.0 Nougat's faster speeds and more efficient notification display, it's handy to reply directly from an alert. Users also enjoy battery savings with Doze on the Go. Data saver mode prevents some apps from sending background data, saving battery life further and avoiding additional data fees.
A few more features worth mentioning on the Nougat 7.0 are bundled notifications, the Daydream VR, new Emojis and a cat-catching game. There are the less visible changes, as well, such as a new multitasking shortcut, the ability to use of two apps at same time, or view two Chrome tabs, drag and drop text, images when in multi-window mode, and quicker quick settings, shares CNet.
