'Friday The 13th: The Game' Release Update: Console Certification Holding Back Definite Launch Schedule
Nicole T.Many horror fans are a bit worried about "Friday the 13th: The Game." This is not because of fear of a disappointing game. Rather, fans are worried because it still doesn't have a concrete release date.
Apparently, the release forecast for "Friday the 13th" still has "early 2017" on it. By now, fans are wishing for a finalized date when they could get their hands on the game. To clear out all the issues surrounding the launch, the developers themselves left a message for all the fans.
The said message was posted on the game's forum. It contained an explanation why the release date is still a mystery.
According to PCGamesN, the real reason behind it was because of the console certification. Complete games should be passed to the console owners such as Sony and they would check the game based on their own specific checklist. Once the game is approved, it can be launched on the console it was passed on.
Apparently, "Friday the 13th" still hasn't passed the checklist for the console certification. However, the developers also can't see the list themselves.
"Once we have a candidate (feature and content complete) we have to send a build to Sony and Microsoft. Their internal teams test the game against a very intense checklist to make sure we pass," "Friday the 13th" game developers have posted on the forum site:.
They know the basics on how to get graded, But they have apparently no idea what the specifics are. Also, they have also mentioned that each territory has a different guideline. "Friday the 13th" game developers say that they do not have the access to all these rules and so they are a little blind. As an example, what could pass in North America may not pass in Japan.
"Friday the 13th" developers are also wishing they could announce the exact release date for the game. They said that the last thing they would want to do to their fans is to give out a date, only to discover they have given wrong information and delay the release even more.
