OnePlus 5 Is Packed With Snapdragon 835, Android 7.0 Out Of The Box At Budget Phone's Price; Possible Launch In April
Rei LantionNow that OnePlus has settled on the OnePlus 5 as a model name, they are, indeed, foregoing OnePlus 4 in the series. Since then, rumors regarding the flagship model's specs have already begun circulating.
Similar to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, the OnePlus 5 promises to have a sweet setup under the hood despite its entry level price. The phone is expected to launch early this year, though an exact date is yet to be confirmed.
Under the Hood. According to the The BitBag, the OnePlus 5 is expected to run on Android 7.0 Nougat, and the processor of choice is the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. They also report a 4,000 mAh battery and a whopping 64GB for internal storage.
On the other hand, also mentioned a 6GB RAM. No news yet if there will be different models depending on RAM, but most conjectures seem to point to just one 6GB variant as the OnePhone 5 model. Others give a range of 6-8GB RAM.
External Features. Oneplus4 site said the flagship model will feature a 16 MP rear-mounted camera and an 8 MP front-facing one. The BitBag also mentioned that the phone could feature a ceramic body shell design similar to the Xiomi Mi Mix. Further speculation states the phone will also be water- and dust-proof. Presently, all three features remain unconfirmed.
Other interesting features mentioned are a fingerprint scanner and D-touch, pressure-sensitive technology, quick charging, and a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED.
What We Know So Far
According MStars News, the OnePlus 5 is expected to arrive April 2017. This ties in with popular consumer theory that users will be getting the flagship phone in the first to second quarter of 2017. It also said to retail for $420-$480 and can be purchased online.
The reason behind the OnePlus 4 skip is that the number "4" in China is considered an unlucky number. OnePlus has supposedly skipped from OnePlus 3 to OnePlus 5 in the hopes that their upcoming flagship will be just as successful as its predecessor.
