The new Oppo R9s comes with a brand new camera sensor that can capture some pretty amazing photos. The smartphone sports a Sony-developed sensor with a 16MP resolution and a pretty fast f/1.7 aperture. The device's camera takes sharp shots consistently and has fast focus times. The secondary camera is also of 16MP though it uses a different sensor and has an f/2.0 aperture. The R9s comes with an affordable price tag compared to other biggies in the market such as Apple, Samsung and Google.

According to Gizmodo, the Oppo R9s has a 5.5-inch 1920x1080pixel AMOLED display, 8-core processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage and microSD slot to increase storage up to 256GB. It packs a 3,010 mAh battery and comes with Oppo's 25-Watt VOOC fast charging. The biggest drawback of the otherwise great handset is its operating system. It runs Oppo's ColorOS 3.0 skin on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. There is no news yet on when and if the Oppo R9s will get an upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat.

Moreover, the Oppos R9s does not have Android's built-in VR system, Daydream and is not waterproof. It does not support high-performance 3d graphics and two apps cannot run side-by-side. The Oppo R9s will go on sale from Jan. 30 in Australia via JB Hi-Fi as its major retailer and also through Vodafone, Virgin, Woolworths Mobile and Optus. It costs AU$598 (US$450 approx). The super-fast handset is both lightweight and thin though lags behind the biggies in terms of processor speed and graphics capabilities.

Oppo is reportedly trying to make a name in the Android mobile market by offering cool specs at half the price of other top flagships such as Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy S7 and Apple iPhone. Stay tuned on Mobile & Apps for more updates on the Oppo R9s.
