Connectivity Problems Plagued 'For Honor' During Closed Beta; Players Can't Access Ubisoft's Server
Regin Olimberio"For Honor" players are facing two problems in joining the close beta as it started yesterday. Ubisoft's era warfare-themed offering requires players to connect through their console's online service and to the publisher's as well.
It seems that "always online" mechanics is becoming a common trend in gaming nowadays. "For Honor" is no exception because it needs to connect to the game's server for it to work. The problem in this method is that players can't easily connect to the servers.
Gamers are not really worried that "always online" is becoming the current standard in gaming. However, a game as highly-anticipated as "For Honor" caused stir and worries that connectivity issue is going to plague the game. The recent event was just a beta testing phase, which is another reason to fear that servers might bog down with heavier volume of players once "For Honor" launches.
There is a fair number of "For Honor" fans that were able to get through the servers, but other players simply received a notification that Ubisoft Club is unavailable and they can't play. There is a good number of players who were referred to the Ubisoft website as well.
Claims suggest that the connectivity problem is sporadic and is affecting even those who complied with the developer's beta requirements. According to Game Revolution, "For Honor" servers are acting erratically even after a few hours since the beta opened. In fact, there are at least two cases where "For Honor" admitted in their Twitter page that the servers got toasted. The developers argued that there is a particular problem with the PlayStation Network that kept the players from joining.
Meanwhile, it is unclear whether Ubisoft is going to extend the beta schedule. After all, "For Honor" beta will only run until today. With players experiencing the connectivity problem, there is a call not to limit the beta to just a 2-day runtime.
