Nintendo Switch Official Specs Reveals 6.2-inch Capacitive Touchscreen Display; Hybrid Console Less Powerful Than PS4? [VIDEO]
Pia MerciThe Nintendo Switch is set to be released the market two months from now. However, the hybrid console has continuously caused a huge stir online since Nintendo, a Japanese video game company, released its first trailer.
Several reports about its alleged specifications and accessories have emerged all around the internet for some time now. More so, it wasn't until this Friday that Nintendo finally released the official specs of the gaming device.
Nintendo was able to update its own website last Friday to include the specifications of the Nintendo Switch console and the handheld device's dock. As per the new information given by the company, the console will be coming with a 6.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display with 1280 x 720 resolution.
Furthermore, its brightness sensor is located just below the screen while an audio jack is situated on the top portion of the device, which is for "commercially available headphones, microphones or headsets". The game card slot, power switch and the volume are also located on top of the Nintendo Switch.
The rails which accommodate the Joy-Con controllers are found on the either side of the console while the two front-firing speaker grilles are at the bottom. More importantly, the console has a 32 GB system memory and has a 4310 mAh Lithium ion battery, as per Nintendo.
Moreover, there is an easy to use stand at the back of the console which is pretty adjustable and provides support to the device when placed on top of tables and floors as well. Just below the stand, the microSD card slot that supports microSD, microSDXC, and microSDHC memory cards is neatly placed while the USB TypeC connector for the AC adaptor or dock is found at the base of the handheld device.
The USB ports, TV output LED and the system connector are all found up front at the Switch's dock. The USB ports are handy for the Joy-Con and Pro controllers' charging grip.
Note that both of them are sold separately. Along with the AC adapter port, HDMI port, and back cover, the other USB port that works with USB 2.0 and 3.0 is found at the back of the same dock.
A lot of things have been revealed about the Nintendo Switch console and its dock including the Joy-Con controllers. But Joy-Con straps and the Joy-Con grip, the company is still hesitant on detailing the new processor the console is rocking other than stating that the device houses an Nvidia customized Tegra processor.
According to reports, the chip that Nintendo is using with its upcoming console is apparently similar with the one inside Nvidia's Shield TV. When compared to PlayStation 4, the Nintendo Switch would apparently be less powerful.
