Samsung Galaxy A5 To Get Android 7.0 Nougat Soon, Confirms Australian Carrier Optus
CJ EstimadaSamsung Galaxy A5 launched in 2014 and shipped with the Android 4.4 Kitkat OS. Samsung then released two major Android OS updates and the latest one was the Marshmallow. It's good that Samsung is even supporting a two-year-old device and feeding it with the latest version of the Android OS.
An Old Device With The Latest Update
International Business Times reports that, Optus, a major Australian carrier has confirmed on its software page that Samsung Galaxy A5 will soon receive another major update which is set to come sometime this month. This will be the Android 7.0 Nougat.
Samsung Galaxy A5 did not have top of the line specs when it landed at the end of 2014, so one can imagine how its specs look like now. It would be considered an entry-level smartphone if it were announced recently. Android 7.0 Nougat is projected to pass new life to this smartphone. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how it will function on this handheld, writes AndroidHeadlines.
The Galaxy A5 sports a 5-inch 720p display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. This device is fueled by the Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor and a 2,300mAh battery. It also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, while a 5-megapixel snapper is placed in the front.
What Android 7.0 Nougat Has To Offer
Android Nougat in a nutshell is all about extending functionality, improving pre-existing features and further expanding what's possible in stock Android units. It brings night mode, bundled notification, improved battery optimization, split screen and multi-tasking functionality options and more.
The update is already in testing phase and it's expected to hit the Galaxy A5 device anytime as per the Optus announcement. Optus didn't reveal anything other than this. The update is confirmed by just one carrier and we believe more networks will join the league soon. For now, we wait and will keep everyone posted for updates.
