"Rick and Morty" Season 3 release date remains a mystery among viewers, as series creator Dan Harmon recently explained the reason for the delay in the show's return on Adult Swim. While everyone has been guessing about the new season's release date, a recent update from one of the show's writers offers a possible timeline for the show.

"Rick and Morty" Season 3 release date may be in April 2017; that is if Mr. Poopy Butthole's predictions at the end of Season 2 was correct. In a recent post on Twitter, one of the show's writers, Ryan Ridley, teased that fans and viewers should go back to his predictions about the show's return.

Ridley went on and stated that viewers should never have treated the "Rick and Morty" Season 3 release date as a mystery given Mr. Poopy Butthole's statements during the season 2 finale credits. As most fans can recall, Mr. Poopy Butthole said that the third season will be back in "a year and a half or longer."

"Rick and Morty" Season 2 finale aired in October 2015, so if viewers will do the math, a year and a half translates to April 2017. However, Mr. Poopy Butthole also teased a possible "longer" waiting time, so viewers should rest easy while Adult Swim has not yet announced the official release of the show.

Nerdist notes on the possible release of "Rick and Morty" Season 3 after the 2017 San Diego Comic Con. According to the publication, there have been speculations that the show's new website may be filled with hints and easter eggs about the new season.

In one specific post on the Galactic Federation, fans spotted a possible easter egg on the "Rick and Morty" season 3 release date. The end of the post mentions something about the Remembrance Parade for Blood Ridge vets in San Diego, which is what led fans to believe that the show will premiere after the SDCC.
