Super Bowl LI - Lady Gaga's halftime performance is just as what people expected plus a hint of a protest. The "Million Reasons" singer wowed the crowd with a mix of her chart topping songs and hundreds of drones but what probably caught the fans' attention is when Lady Gaga began her number with "God Bless America" before singing a phrase from "This Land Is Your Land", a protest anthem.

A known supporter of the presidential bid of Hillary Clinton, Lady Gaga was pleaded to include a political message in her Super Bowl 51 halftime performance by a number of fans. However, the "Bad Romance" singer's performance did not contain any overt political statement.

Though lacking in overt political statement, the Grammy winner was able to sneak in a powerful message at the beginning of her 2017 Super Bowl 51 halftime performance. Lady Gaga expressed a message of inclusion by starting her number with the song "God Bless America" which was immediately followed by "This Land is your Land", a popular protest anthem.

To conclude the emotional introduction, Lady Gaga lifted a phrase from the Pledge of Allegiance and recited before a roaring crowd "One Nation under God", recited the Grammy winner, "indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

During the Lady Gaga Super Bowl LI halftime show, the singer chose to mainly sing the choruses of her hit songs except for one. When the 2011 hit song "Born this Way" was played, Lady Gaga chose to sing a verse from the later part of the song.

"No matter gay, straight, or bi, Lesbian, transgendered life" sang the songstress, "I'm on the right track baby, I was born to survive." Lady Gaga, a known defender of LGBTQ rights may have been provoked by Vice President Mike Pence's presence in the stadium into singing that part of her song during the Super Bowl LI halftime show.
