'Story Of Seasons: Trio Of Towns' News: Localizing The Game For The West Would Be Pretty Expensive, XSEED Claims

XSEED's "Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns" will release on February 28, 2017. As far as the game's localization for the West is concerned, the game publishers will have to face a lot of problems. The game's downloadable content was released for free in four patches over six months in Japan. The patches contained some new characters, new events, new pet, costumes, and more.

The publishers would definitely find themselves in a tough situation trying to localize more than 400,000 characters. Notably, one of the game's patches has more than 200,000 characters, reported Gematsu.

The costs are enough to cover another release of a game

Quality assurance costs would also be on the line when "Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns" is localized. The total costs that include programming and quality assurance will be the same as releasing another title, said XSEED. The game publishers claim that it would cost upwards of six figures to localize the DLC content. The dilemma that the publisher is now facing is whether to localize the content or not as the amount of money and manpower they would need to localize the game could almost release a full other title.

XSEED always prioritizes their fans wishes. Thus, they left a note to fans and players that they can always leave a message regarding the issue on their official Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook page.

Here is the breakdown of the downloadable contents that were contained in the four patches:

The DLC contained a new bachelor and bachelorette: Stephanie the contest MC and Woofio, the contest judge wearing a dog costume. A few new events have been added where the character meets his/her father and eats food with friends. There's also a new pet named Cheburashka. New costumes, including ones based on Lest and Frey from "Rune Factory 4" has also made way to "Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns."
