Developer inXile Entertainment and Techland have posted a new story trailer for "Torment: Tides of Numenera", detailing the history of "Changing God", a being who apparently maintains immortality by transferring host bodies.

The story trailer is set billion years in the future. A man, who discovered a way to cheat death, exposed the myths leading up to the very moment those players begin their odyssey as the Last Castoff, which the flesh-and-blood by-product of a megalomaniacal deity is known as the Changing God.

"Torment: Tides of Numenera" is said to be the spiritual successor to "Planescape: Torment", which is one of the most acclaimed cRPGs of all time. It is a spiritual successor in a sense that it borrows a similar but far newer, fictionalized universe given that Planescape was invented in 1994 while Numenera was first published in 2013.

"Torment: Tides of Numenera" is a single-player and has an isometric role-playing game. It is a story-driven game as well with reportedly a rich dialogue system. In this upcoming title, player character develops his or her skills and personality from their interactions with the world. The said character will supposedly interact with up to 8 possible companion characters that will be joining them in their journey.

The player will specifically take the role of the Last Castoff. It is said to be a human being that was once inhabited by an unidentified powerful being. However, it suddenly abandoned the body and left it out without any memories of prior events.

Furthermore, the world in Numenera is known as "The Ninth World", referencing that eight great civilizations have apparently risen and fallen before the world of the present era. To be exact, Numenera refers to the leftover remains of technology that lies inactive from these past civilizations. The world is inhabited by "nanites" that some characters in this universe can communicate with and even control.

"Torment: Tides of Numenera" is set for release on February 28 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game is said to be already available via Steam Early Access.
