The South Korean tech giant has launched a slew of smartphones, phablets, and tablets recently. The newly launched Android-powered Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 has been highly lauded by gadget aficionados. At the IFA event in Berlin, Samsung revealed ATIV Tab, its Windows-powered tablet.
Samsung's current tablets are already quite popular in the tablet arena and the company will be hoping that the ATIV Tab, which runs Windows RT, has all the features that will prospective buyers will find alluring.
Display
Both the ATIV Tab and the Galaxy Note 10.1 boast a 10.1-inch display. However, the ATIV Tab will have a 1366x768 resolution, compared to the 1280x800 resolution of Galaxy Note 10.1.
Weight and Thickness
The Galaxy Note 10.1 and the ATIV Tab are both 8.9-mm thick. However, at 580gms the Galaxy Note 10.1 is slightly heavier than the 570gms ATIV Tab.
Processor
A quad-core 1.4-GHz Exynos processor with 2GB of RAM powers the Galaxy Note 10.1. The ATIV Tab on the other hand will include a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM.
Storage Capacity
The ATIV Tab will be on offer with 32/64 GB storage options, while the Galaxy Note 10.1 is available in 16/32/54GB variants. Both tablets also provide a microSD card slot to expand the memory to a further 64GB.
Operating System
The Galaxy Note 10.1 runs on Android's Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). Users are hoping for an upgrade to Jelly Bean soon. The ATIV Tab, on the other hand, will cater to consumers looking for the glitz of Microsoft Windows RT.
Camera
The Galaxy Note 10.1 and the ATIV Tab both sport a 5-megapixel rear-facing auto focus camera with LED flash, as well as a 1.9-megapixel front-facing sharp shooter.
Battery
A mammoth 8200mAh battery powers the ATIV Tab, outdoing the Galaxy Note 10.1 (7000mAh battery) with a battery power difference of 1200mAh.
Connectivity
Standard connectivity with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi is available in both the NFC-enabled tablets.
Productivity
The Galaxy Note 10.1 runs Polaris Office to allow users to create, edit, view, and cloud store Microsoft's Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents on the go. By contrast, the ATIV Tab's will have the presence of Office RT, which will provide users with ARM-friendly versions of Microsoft's Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
