‘Pillars Of Eternity 2’ Crowdfunding Campaign Hits $4 Million; Soulbound Weapon Promised If Stretch Goal Is Achieved [VIDEO]
Pia MerciThe forthcoming PC RPG "Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire" has concluded and it passed another funding milestone. The game's crowdfunding campaign on Fig has ended, earning a grand total of $4,407,598 with 33,614 backers. This makes the game ending up with over 400 percent funded.
According to the game's developer, Obsidian Entertainment, it's the most successful fan-funded game on any site since 2015. However, it should be noted that another game, "Star Citizen," had received a lot more in its ongoing funding. GameSpot details that the game's campaign crossed $100 million in December 2015 and even stands at more than $143 million at present.
It is also considered as the most-funded game in Fig's history, although the site only launched 2 years ago. Fig allows people to obtain equity, which enables them to share in a game's success, unlike those of other well-known funding platforms such as Kickstarter and Indiegogo.
As the game's crowdfunded campaign in Fig has officially concluded, "Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire" raised a grand total of $4,407,598 with 33,614 supporters. $2.25 million has come from "Fig Game Shares" and the remaining $2.15 million from traditional pledges.
GameZone details that the only thing "Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire" has not accomplished is its recently revealed stretch goal which is set for the $4.75 million mark. Obsidian announced if it hits $4.75 million, they will be adding Sea Monsters and fishing into the game.
The game needed just less than 23 hours to clear its $1.1 million goal. And then, it crossed $3 million earlier this week. The game's structure and gameplay is likely based on of the previous game and is expected to offer "truly living cities and more freedom to explore the open world." The current target delivery for "Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire" is sometime in Q1 2018.
