‘Nier: Automata’ Receives Essential Update; 1.02 Day One Patch On PS4 [VIDEO]
Pia MerciSquare Enix's action RPG "Nier: Automata" has received its day one patch -- version 1.02. The upcoming title is slated for a March release in the west. However, several fans were already granted access to the game's Japanese version. The gameplay footage online implies that to certainly enjoy the game, players should play it once it is fully updated.
There are merely a few things which can be performed in the game's unpatched version. Screenshots are allowed to be taken but for recording, it is understandably impermissible given that "Nier: Automata" is not yet internationally available until March. Players are advised to wait until the update is fully installed so they won't encounter any issues.
The "Nier: Automata" update 1.01 is required to progress further in the game. The players will reportedly face a complete death once they venture long enough. This said 1.01 update is the day one patch for players who secured the game's copy before February 23.
Moreover, the pre-patched version's Saving Feature is said to be very limited since the update isn't still fully mounted. Note that this patch is very important, or else players cannot progress further. The patch notes for 1.01 features several tweaks on game balance, bug fixes, and added support for extra content.
"Nier: Automata's" update 1.02 comes in at 2.9 GB size. Its patch notes only reads "fixed various bugs." It appears to be a big one so it is possible that it includes more than just bug fixes.
Additionally, according to GamingBolt, there is a certain junk item that takes up inventory space and does absolutely nothing. This was called NIN64. The patch 1.02 removes all references that could be interpreted as being towards Nintendo- NIN64 which is now referred to by the more descriptive, 'Broken Firearm.' This "fix" was done simply because Square Enix wanted to avoid any backlash since it was a problem for a lot of people. They were thinking that NIN64 was referring to Nintendo's N64 console, being implicitly referred to as "junk."
While Western countries receive a March 7 release, "Nier: Automata" is now available in areas like Japan and Asia. The Japanese version of the game surprisingly features English dub and subtitles which makes it possible for everyone to play it. The game is set to arrive first on PS4 before finally making its way to the PC.
