Square Enix 'The Avengers' Video Game And Other Marvel Video Games May Not Be In Line With Marvel Cinematic Universe
JPThe Square Enix "The Avengers" video game along with the other games inspired by the Marvel comics may not be tied in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Marvel will reportedly not force game developers to squeeze their games into existing MCU storylines.
In a recent interview with IGN during the 2017 D.I.C.E Summit, Marvel's creative director Bill Rosemann discussed some insights about the upcoming Marvel comics inspired games. According to Rosemann, Marvel is giving the game developers the opportunity to create new visions of the different Marvel characters.
Four Marvel-based video game projects is currently under development. These games are the "Spider-man" video game for PS4, "Guardians of the Galaxy: Telltale Series," "Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite" and the Square Enix "The Avengers" video game project.
The Marvel creative director said that the company wants its video game partners to tell an original, all new story. He also said that the video game developers should put their own stamps in the game and to create their game with their own visions.
Rosemann also revealed that Marvel is not forcing its video game partners to match the schedule of a movie so that the Marvel game and the movie can be released within the same period. He also revealed that Marvel is giving the video game developers and publishers all the space and support they need to fulfill their creative visions.
The statements of Rosemann implies that the Square Enix "The Avengers" video game project may not be released within the same period as the next "Avengers" movie. There have been early speculations that the game may go hand in hand with the movie.
The Square Enix "The Avengers" video game project is probably the most anticipated Marvel-based video game title. The Square Enix and Marvel video game collaboration was announced just earlier this year.
