MWC 2017: Sony Xperia XZ Premium Is Probably The Biggest Surprise, First Smartphone With 4K HDR Display And Super Slow Motion Video
Cris Xander JulianoDuring the Mobile World Congress 2017, most people expected that tech giants such as LG, Huawei and even Nokia, would be the center of attention with the unveiling of their flagship smartphones with the absence of Samsung's Galaxy S8. However, Sony made a surprising announcement of its Xperia XZ Premium, the first smartphone with 4K HDR display and super slow motion video.
However, BGR reports the device is not yet functional as it only stayed on its socket during the trade show and was not allowed to be removed from the same. This probably means that the device might not be ready just yet.
The Xperia XZ Premium does look good on paper, though; it has Qualcomm's latest processor, the Snapdragon 835, a Motion Eye camera technology capable of super slow motion video, which is a first for a smartphone.
The device will sport a 5.5-inch display with a 3840 x 2160 resolution. It also has the Snapdragon X16 LTE modem which is capable of up to 1Gpbs speeds. The rear camera boasts a 19MP sensor with a memory stacked Exmor RS sensor and super slow motion mode at 960fps. It has USB-C support and a fingerprint scanner.
The Xperia XZ Premium is water and dust resistant with a reinforced Corning Gorilla 5 on both the front and rear of the device. It comes with Qnavo Adaptive Charging, Smart Stamina and Battery care, although the battery's capacity wasn't specified.
Sony has kept the full specifications discreet, a sign that the company hasn't made up its mind for the final spec sheet of the device. Release date and pricing were not announced as well.
Stay tuned for more updates.
