Smartphone lovers have been waiting with bated breath to get their hands on Samsung's highly-anticipated, next generation flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, but much to their chagrin; it looks like they are in for a long wait.

While the rumor mill has not ceased swirling all sorts of speculations around Samsung's radically redesigned Galaxy S8, S8 Plus smartphones' launch timeframe, VentureBeat's tech tipster Ewan Blass (Twitter handle, @evleaks) has added more fuel to the already burning rumors about the devices' imminent unveiling.

According to Blass, the South Korean handset maker has postponed the commercial availability of its long-awaited flagship smartphones from April 21 to April 28, 2017. No prizes for guessing, this shred of information will frustrate the huge Galaxy fanbase that has restlessly been waiting to catch a glimpse of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus smartphones.

The highly reliable tipster says Samsung has not divulged the reason behind its decision to push the devices' launch back to April 28. However, having learned a lesson in how a rushed debut can end up in disaster last year, the tech firm, according to Blass, is proceeding quite cautiously this time around.

Meanwhile, Forbes contributor, Gordon Kelly attributed the delayed launch to inventory. Aside from packing an array of jaw-dropping specs and features, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus smartphones are also expected to undergo a radical overhaul in the bid to lure back Galaxy users. Sporting some of the biggest changes yet in the Galaxy lineup, Kelly believes these phones will sell quickly and in large quantities.

Moreover, Blass claims that the commercial delay will in no way influence the now-official unveiling date of March 29. It's worth noting that an April timeframe has been associated with the company's Galaxy S releases. For instance, the Galaxy S6, S5 and S4 all hit the store shelves in April on the 10th, 11th, and 27th respectively.

Breaking a long reigning trend, the Galaxy S7 went on sale on March 11, which fueled wrong speculations among Galaxy fans about an April release for the Galaxy S8 ad Galaxy S8 Plus. Thankfully, Samsung has finally debunked these rumors by confirming that the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2017 event will take place 1:00 a.m. EDT on March 29, 2017, in New York.
