As we move towards the scheduled March 29 release date of the Samsung Galaxy S8 flagship smartphone, more and more details about the highly anticipated device continue to surface online, but that's hardly surprising considering the hype encompassing the arrival of the Galaxy S7 successor.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 flagship smartphone has been subject to a slew of rumors and leaks in the past and Samsung's efforts to plug leaks have been to no avail. Now, just days ahead of the device's long-awaited launch, the leaks are still pouring and this time, finding their way on the internet in the form of images of the Samsung Galaxy S8.

The South Korean handset maker's lips are sealed when it comes to leaks and rumors about the company's upcoming devices, but fret not, the internet is brimming with all sorts of theories about the Samsung Galaxy S8 specs, features, design and more. As if that weren't enough, high-up officials have recently been throwing light on details that the company has been keeping under wraps for a long time, according to a report from the Korea Economic Daily.

For instance, on Wednesday, March 8, execs at Samsung Electronics divulged that they rendered their plan to mount iris recognition on the Samsung Galaxy S8 invalid since it is quite limited as far as accuracy and speed of recognition are concerned. The Galaxy S8 will resort to the face recognition function instead, they added. According to the officials, face recognition would enable the Galaxy S8 users to unlock the device within 0.01 second.

Meanwhile, some other sources claim that Samsung has already completed the development of face recognition technology that will be used for the software of the Samsung Galaxy S8. While details about exactly how the technology would work are scarce, it could involve switching the camera on while the phone is still locked. This might justify the presence of a mystery third camera shown on the recently leaked pictures of the upcoming handset, The Sun reported.

Not too long ago, the first alleged picture of the Samsung Galaxy S8 was running rampant all over the internet, thanks to a tweet from tech tipster Evan Blass. Other leaksters believe that the device will come bearing a steep price tag, upwards of £699 (about $850).

It looks like smartphone lovers who have been waiting with bated breath to get their hands on the Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone will have to continue waiting a bit longer. According to a new report from Forbes contributor Gordon Kelly, the handset's commercial availability has been pushed back one week i.e. from April 21 to April 28; however, Samsung has neither confirmed nor denied this reports, which stems from a tweet from VentureBeat's Evan Blass.
