Smartphone users on Verizon may be looking forward to the carrier's upcoming line-up of devices, like the Motorola RAZR HD, RAZR MAXX HD, RAZR M, Apple iPhone 5, and Samsung Galaxy Note II. However, a leaked roadmap suggests that many more flagship handsets are making their way to the carrier.
LG Spectrum 2: The 4.7-inch smartphone is supposedly a re-branded Optimus LTE 2. The device is expected to hit the shelves in October this year. Rumored specifications suggest that a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 will power the phone. The LG Spectrum 2 will sport an 8-megapixel camera, and a 2150 mAh battery will boost the device. The device will be Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled. However, the smartphone is anticipated to pack Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) rather than 4.1 Jelly Bean, which may be a disappointment for many smartphone enthusiasts.
HTC Droid Incredible X: Alleged photos of the handset surfaced a few weeks ago. The 5-inch device may head for a direct competition to Samsung's much-awaited Galaxy Note 2. The Droid Incredible X will include a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor with 1.5GB RAM. The device will have 16GB of on-board storage with the option to expand the memory using a microSD card. The "phablet" is anticipated for a November release.
Windows Phone 8 Devices: Verizon users are likely to have a selection of Windows Phone 8 (WP8) smartphones on offer: the Samsung ATIV S, Nokia Lumia 920, and the HTC 8X. All the devices have already been launched and pack high-end features, but these smartphones will be available only when the WP8 operating system has been officially launched by Microsoft; with Microsoft's event slated for Oct. 26, the handsets will have to wait at least until November before they make it to the consumer market.
BlackBerry 10 L-Series: Research In Motion (RIM) is expected to unveil its full touchscreen device running the company's upcoming OS in Q1 2013.
"Pocket-lint can exclusively reveal that there will be six BlackBerry 10 devices targeting high, mid and entry-level markets following the launch of the operating system in early 2013," reported the site.
A robust smartphone line-up is in store for users who are eagerly waiting to lay their hands on these new offerings. Consumers will have a challenging task to pick up the best device from the wide selection of handsets on offer.
