iMac 2017 GPU will reportedly contain AMD Polaris-based graphics card, latest rebranded RX 500. Mac's OLED Touch Bar will also be an additional feature to the desktop. Mobipicker said that the standard model will still use the 5K screen, the 8K Retina display will serve as an add-on. With these expected features for iMac to possess, it is anticipated to support a virtual reality experience.

In the third quarter of this year, Apple would probably disclose the iMac 2017 to the public. The upcoming worldwide developer conference of Apple is expected to reveal some iOS and hardware updates. Some suggested that the company could launch the new desktop on WWDC 2017 this June but based on the previous year's event, iOS 11, MacOS Sierra and Swift Playgrounds had the greatest unveilings.
