AMD 500-Series Graphics Card Launched ; RX 580 and RX 570 Out Now
Keisuke AkioAMD officially launched the Radeon 500 series graphics cards. The AMD RX 580, RX 570, RX 560, and RX 550 are now available.
AMD's latest range of graphics cards can now be purchased at your favorite stores. The RX 580 and RX 570 are available in 4 GB and 6 GB variants. In May, the 2GB RX 560 will be launched and available at $99. In April those who have been waiting for the RX 550 can get the 2 GB RAM for a price of $80. The 4 GB RX580 is available at $199, the 8GB can be purchased at $229 while the RX570 of the same capacity is sold at $169, reported by The Verge.
Although several analysts consider the latest AMD Radeon 500 series as a rebrand, the company claims that it has an enhanced 14nm FinFET manufacturing procedure that boosted its clock speeds. The reference design, that is, RX 580 has the same core specs as the RX 480, which includes 36 compute cores and a 256-bit memory interface. It is clocked at 1257 MHZ and can be boosted up to 1340MHz, says ARS Technica.
The RX 550 of the AMD 500-series does not entail extra board power to operate, which make it an easy upgrade for users who are into off-the-shelf PCs. It has 1180MHz boost clock, 2 GB of GDDR5 memory with a 128-bit interface, and eight compute units. On the other hand, the RX560 is the best upgrade as it performs four times better than the integrated graphics solutions like the Intel HD530, says Wccftech.
Although to some the AMD 500-series is not a very exciting upgrade, it is value and cost efficient. The recent outbreak of drivers has improved the RX 480 intensely competitive with the rival Nvidia's GTX 1060 especially when the price is a factor. In addition, the AMD 500-series graphics cards all support Freesync as well as 4K and HDR.
