Galaxy AI Features to Extend to Last-Gen Samsung Phones, Including S21 Series
Austin JaySamsung is on the verge of democratizing access to its revolutionary Galaxy AI features. It is poised to extend them to older flagship phones and tablets, including the Galaxy S21 series, through the forthcoming One UI 6.1 update. This strategic move, confirmed by a Samsung representative in a forum post in Korea, marks a significant expansion of AI capabilities across multiple device generations.
With the upcoming rollout, some Galaxy AI features will be implemented across various models of Samsung devices, thus mitigating the problem of pairing new and old devices in the company's product range.
Specifically, Samsung's 2022 flagship lineup, encompassing the S22, S22 Plus, S22 Ultra, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, Tab S8, and Tab S8 Ultra, will receive a slightly trimmed-down version of Galaxy AI akin to the Galaxy S23 FE. Features like Instant Slow-Mo, initially introduced with the S24 line, will also become available on select S23 models, enhancing the user experience across a broader spectrum of devices.
For owners of 2021 flagship Samsung phones, there's also a reason for excitement. The impending update will usher in two pivotal Galaxy AI features, Circle to Search and Magic Rewrite (or Generative Edit), to devices such as the S21, S21 Plus, S21 Ultra, Flip 3, and Fold 3. This signifies a significant enhancement in AI capabilities for existing device owners, enabling them to leverage intuitive search functionality and cloud-powered editing tools seamlessly.

Samsung's determination to enrich Galaxy AI covers device compatibility and represents a broader goal of global availability and inclusiveness. The three new languages Samsung has added to its ensemble, namely Arabic, Indonesian, and Russian, as well as the three dialects it has included, comprising Cantonese, Australian English, and Canadian French, make it clear that the company is focused on enabling users worldwide to overcome communication barriers in any language.
Along with the plans of having the four new languages this year, which include Romanian, Turkish, Dutch, and Swedish, as well as traditional Chinese and European Portuguese, Samsung aims to provide Galaxy AI to users across various language proficiencies.
Galaxy AI makes a complex feature set of highly potent tools available to its users to augment productivity, communication, and the general interface user experience. Live Translate, facilitating voice and text translations in real-time; Interpreter, which was designed to translate a live conversation; and Chat Assist, delivering context-aware suggestions and translations, are some of the AI platform's apps that support different requirements of the users.
Subsequent features such as Note Assist, Transcript Assist, and Browsing Assist are examples of how users continue to perform better and more conveniently. They reinforce Samsung's dedication to providing AI innovations that constantly speak to the users' needs to improve themselves.
Samsung is taking AI innovations straight to older devices with the upcoming One UI 6.1 to enable a wide range of older device users to enjoy advanced features and provide language support across its diverse product line. With the expansion boundaries of mobile AI, Samsung stands out, and innovation is in the process of introducing premium experiences that allow users to exploit a variety of connected worlds with freedom and comfort.
