Smartphone market leader Samsung is reportedly working on a new mid-range device which will be budget friendly. Recently, leaked images suggest that the Korea-based company is working on a new device dubbed the Star Deluxe Duos S5292.
The affordable phone, rumors suggest, will launch in December in emerging markets and will have dual-SIM functionality.
"There's a new dual-SIM Samsung handset that appeared on the web recently, without being officially announced. It's called Samsung Star Deluxe Duos S5292, and it should be released in December," reported Web site Unwiredview.
The images and specifications of the Star Deluxe Duos S5292 first emerged on a Chinese Web site. According to SamMobile, the project name of the device is "Pollux."
The leaked details reveal that the handset will sport a 3.5-inch HVGA display with 480 x 320 pixels resolution. A 312MHz XMM2230 processor will power the Star Deluxe Duos S5292. The phone will likely measure 4.45 x 2.44 x 0.47 inches and weigh 0.24 pounds.
The phone will have 128MB of RAM and 512MB of internal memory, along with an expandable memory option (of up to 32GB) courtesy the microSD card slot. The device will pack in a moderate 1000mAh Li-ion battery and will support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0. The device will also feature a 3.2-megapixel rear-facing camera.
The leaked specifications indicate that the phone will be available in gray. No details of the operating system are mentioned; however, the image of the Star Deluxe Duos indicates that the phone will run on Android. The possibility of the handset supporting an Android OS with just a 312MHz processor is questionable. Additionally, all the Samsung Star handsets that have released so far have been feature phones and not smartphones, increasing the likelihood of the leaked handset to be one too.
Of late, Samsung has been adding to its growing portfolio of devices, which cater to all price brackets. The company, it seems, will leave no stone unturned and no market untapped and is on track to uphold its supremacy in the consumer market.
Whether the rumors hold true and the handset packs in an Android OS will be revealed once the phone releases in December, as speculated.
