iPad Mini: What Users Are Expecting

Sumit Passary

Apple has already sent out invites for its high-anticipated event on Oct. 23 where the tech industry is expecting to catch the first glimpse of the company's new tablet, the iPad Mini. Both users and tech gurus have received the current crop of iPad's well, and by now consumers have developed certain expectations from the iPad Mini.

Here are some features which users will be expecting to see in the iPad Mini.

7.85-Inch Display

Rumors indicate that the latest iPad Mini will feature a 7.85-inch display. Apple already has a bigger 9.7-inch tablet in the market. To get more variety when selecting a tablet, when compared to other smaller rival tablets like Google's Nexus 7 and Amazon's Kindle Fire HD, consumers will be hoping to get a smaller version of the iPad.

A6 or A5 Processor?
Apple's iPhone 5 has been launched with Apple's custom-designed A6 processor which the company claims is nearly double in speed. The A6 processor is provides speedy streaming, consuming media, and playing games as it has amazing graphical capabilities. The current versions of the iPad include an A5 processor. To speed up the latest iPad Mini consumers will hope for the A6 processor to make its way to the tablet. However, rumors  indicate that the iPad Mini will feature an A5 processor and have 512MB of RAM.

Lightning Dock Connector
Mock-up videos, leaked images, and rumors have all suggested that the iPad Mini will likely have the smaller docking port. The iPhone 5 has been launched with a smaller 8-pin Lighting Connector. iPad Mini users will hope for a smaller 8-pin Lightning connector too. Owners of the iPhone 5, who wish to buy the latest iPad Mini, will not want to spend extra for accessories which are different for iPhone 5 and iPad Mini.

Smaller Bezels
Rumors from Web site 9to5Mac have suggested that the iPad Mini will have almost no bezels. The iPad Mini's bezels are said to be notably smaller, so much so that users cannot even touch the front of the device without touching the display.

Early November Release
The iPad Mini is expected to be released in time for the holiday season shopping. Initially, rumors were rife that the tablet will launch in September along with the iPhone 5, which got pushed to October and now indications are that the iPad Mini will hit the shelves on Nov. 2.

Considering, the iPad Mini is expected to be announced on Oct. 23, the November release seems likely.

Pricing
Users will be hoping that the price of the iPad Mini is similar to the rival 7-inch tablets in the market. Rumors indicate that the iPad Mini will be available for €249 ($322 approximately) and will come in 8/16/32/64GB models.
