Apple's Oct. 23 event saw the launch of the fourth generation iPad Mini along with other iDevices like the MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, and the next-gen iMac.
Apple launched its all-in-one Mackintosh desktop back in 1998 and since then the company has made many changes to the design of the desktop.

"Creating the stunningly thin design of the new iMac took some equally stunning feats of technological innovation. We refined,re-imagined or re-engineered everything about it from the inside out. The result is an elegant all-in-one computer that's as much a work of art as it is state of the art," indicates Apple's Web site.
The new iMac is just 5mm thick at its edge and the desktop is around 40 percent thinner than the previous iteration. The display of the iMac reduces reflection by 75 percent. Apple also boosted the device's processor, which is now a quad-core Intel Core i5s.
The new iMac is available in 21.5-inch and 27-inch versions. The smaller 21.5-inch version includes an Intel Core i5 quad-core processor clocked at 2.7 Ghz. The processor can be configured to up to 3.2 Ghz using Turbo Boost. The 21.5-inch version is also available with a 2.9 Ghz processor with Intel Core i5, which can be configured to an i7 Ivy-Bridge processor clocked at 3.1 Ghz. The 21.5-inch model has a 1920 × 1080 pixels resolution.
The 27-inch model is available with a 2.9 Ghz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor and Turbo Boost up to 3.6 Ghz. The bigger 27-inch is also available in a version starting at 3.2 Ghz, which can be configured to 3.1 Ghz quad-core Intel Core i7 with a Turbo Boost for up to 3.9 Ghz.
Both versions i.e., the 21.5-inch and the 27-inch models of iMac have two Thunderbolt ports and four USB 3.0 ports. The iMac does not include an optical drive. However, users have the option of a Fusion drive, which Apple claims combines a faster Flash Drive with the traditional Hard Drive.
The 21.5-inch iMac has a starting price tag of $1,299 and will launch in November. The bigger 27-inch iMac has a starting price of $1799 and Apple plans to ship the model in December this year.
The new iMac with a sleek design may attract potential desktop consumers. Time will tell if the new iMacs will become Apple's one of the most popular iDevices.
