Samsung's Canadian users finally got the much-waited Galaxy Note 2 in late October, and now more good news is in store as carrier Rogers has announced that it would be rolling out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note soon.
Even though the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean version is already our, many Android-powered devices are still awaiting the upgrade from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Samsung began pushing out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update in European countries in September, which was followed Galaxy S3 devices in the U.S. getting the update courtesy carrier Sprint in October.
Per the official Android OS upgrade schedule that has been posted on the Rogers Community Forums, the Canadian carrier is scheduled to push out the Android 4.1 software update in "Late November" and "LateDecember", depending on the device. Three Samsung smartphones are up for upgrade and include the Galaxy S3 LTE, Galaxy S2 LTE, and the Galaxy Note.
The devices will get upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean sooner rather than later. The details released byRogersare as follows:
Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE (SGH-I747M) in "Late November."
Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE (SGH-I727R) in "Late December."
Samsung Galaxy Note (SGH-I717R) in "Late December."
However, Rogers disclaims the dates are "tentative" and are subject to change. Users who do not want to wait have the option to perform unofficial upgrades; however, these can brick the device so are best avoided.
