Users on Canadian carriers Bell and TELUS now have another Samsung smartphone to choose from the Korean company's Galaxy portfolio of devices. Per reports, both the carriers are expected to launch the mid-ranged Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 soon.
Bell is already selling the smartphone in its brick and mortar stores, but is still not available to order from its online store. Rumors indicate that the Galaxy Ace 2 will soon make its way to Bell's online store. TELUS customers can also expect to buy the smartphone from Nov. 22 onwards.
"Both carriers will offer the phone for $250 outright, though Telus will also give you the option of picking up the Ace 2 for $29 with a 3-year contract. As for color choices? There is both a black and white version, but Telus will initially only offer the white model," reported Android Authority.
Being a mid-range phone, the Galaxy Ace 2 may not be the most powerful device but the smartphone features decent specifications in the mid-level category. The Galaxy Ace 2 sports a 3.8-inch PLS TFT capacitive touchscreen display with 800 x 480 pixels resolution and 246 pixels per inch (ppi)
The smartphone features a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with Autofocus and LED Flash. The smartphone also includes a front-facing VGA camera. The Galaxy Ace 2 offers 4GB on-board storage with the option to expand to a further 32GB using a microSD card. A single-core 1GHz processor powers the Galaxy Ace 2.
The handset has 1GB of RAM and a 1500 mAh battery fuels the device. The smartphone runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and there is no news if the operating software will be upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in the near future.
The phone will suit users who are looking for a decent smartphone with select multimedia and entertainment features at a pocket friendly price. However, with the latest Google Nexus 4 packing in high-end specifications and features, and priced just around $50 more than the Galaxy Ace 2, it will be interesting to see if both Bell and TELUS will have the smartphone flying off the shelves.
