Samsung's flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S3, has achieved high praise from users as well as tech gurus. Samsung, in an attempt to penetrate in the mid-segment mobile market, recently launched its Galaxy S3 Mini, which has made its way quietly to Amazon and is now available for its U.S. customers.
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S3 Mini in October this year and released the much-touted smartphone in the U.K. on Nov. 8, with Three as the first carrier to sell the handset. With no U.S. carrier confirming if they will offer the Galaxy S3 Mini on their network it was doubtful if the smartphone will get to the U.S. market.
However, PCMag reports that Amazon is now selling the unlocked white version of the Galaxy S3 Mini starting at $409.95 without warranty.
"The handset works with AT&T and T-Mobile's networks. But if you're looking to get one through Amazon, you better act fast, as it looks like supplies are quite limited. As of Tuesday morning, there were only 11 left in stock," reported PCMag.
The Galaxy S3 Mini sports a 4-inch Super AMOLED display with 800 × 480 pixels resolution and 223 pixels per inch (ppi). A 1GHz dual-core processor powers the smartphone. The smartphone measures 4.8 x 2.48 x 0.39 inches and weighs 4.23 ounces. The smartphone has 8/16GB of internal memory with the option to expand to a further 32GB using a microSD card. Amazon is currently selling the 8GB version of the smartphone.
A 1500mAh battery fuels the handset which offers up to 7 hours 10 minutes of talk time on 3G. The smartphone features a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a VGA front-facing camera. The Galaxy S3 Mini comes packed with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The device also has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Near-Field Communication (NFC) capabilities.
Smartphone enthusiasts will want to get a taste of the smartphone even though none of the U.S. carriers have announced the Galaxy S3 Mini on their network.
Time will tell if any U.S. carrier will offer the Galaxy S3 Mini in the near future and if it will be popular just like big brother, the Galaxy S3.
