Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 (WP8) powered smartphones have started to make their way to the shelves across the world. Samsung was one of the first OEM to announce its WP8 smartphone, the ATIV S, but the smartphone has not yet reached consumers. However, reports now reveal that Canadian carrier Rogers is taking online reservations for the smartphone indicating its arrival in Canada soon.
Samsung's ATIV S is eagerly awaited by smartphone users and the Canadian version of smartphone is expected to arrive at Rogers, Bell, TELUS, and SaskTel. Unfortunately, none of the carriers have revealed a confirmed release date for the smartphone. However, Rogers has started taking online reservations for the ATIV S.
"If going this route piques your interest, you'll need to drop $40 down as a deposit. I can't really see it selling out or experiencing the same demand as the GS III. Rogers has priced the ATIV S at $149.99 on a 3-year and will come in at about $600 outright," reported Mobile Syrup.
The Samsung ATIV S sports a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, which supports HD. The smartphone has 720 x 1280 pixels resolution and 306 pixels per inch (ppi). The display screen also features Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating for extra durability. The handset measures 5.40 x 2.78 x 0.34 inch and weighs 4.76 ounces.
A dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, an Adreno 225 GPU and 1GB of RAM powers the smartphone. The smartphone also features an enhanced 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash, and full HD (1080p) video recording.
The ATIV S has 16/32GB on-board storage. Unlike the Nokia Lumia 920 and the HTC Windows Phone 8X, which lack a microSD card slot, the ATIV S packs in a microSD card slot for memory expansion of up to 32GB. The smartphone has a 2300mAh battery which offers 14 hours and 10 minutes of talk time on 3G.
If any user is interested to place an online reservation they can do it by visiting Rogers online reservation Web page.
