Samsung announced in September this year that the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet will be getting the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update this year. The Jelly Bean update will be accompanied with Samsung's "Premium Suite," which will enhance the functionality of the tablet.
The Premium Suite will give enhanced multitasking features, which will enable users to have up to 16 apps running simultaneously in a multi-window mode. Currently, none of the tablets in the market offer so much multi-tasking. Users will also have the option to easily resize each window, move them around to organize them, and pin the window that is used most often. The tablet's 2GB of RAM will help the tablet to do so much multi-tasking.
Galaxy Note 10.1's stylus, the S Pen, will also get new features including the Air View feature, which will enable a user to preview content of an application just by holding the pen over the top of it. The Air View feature works for videos, pictures, appointments, and e-mails.
The Premium Suite will also bring Easy Clip to the Galaxy Note 10.1 with which users can crop an image from any screen to save and share with family and friends. Features like Quick Command, enhanced S Note and handwriting, Paper Artist, and more will be included in the Premium Suite.
The update has been rolled out in Germany with users already enjoying the latest features. Samsung has confirmed that the update will be arriving in the U.S., but the company has not divulged the exact release date.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 sports a huge 10.1-inch Super PLS LCD display with 1280 × 800 pixels resolution and 149 pixels per inch (ppi). A powerful Exynos 4 quad-core processor, which is clocked at 1.4Ghz powers the tablet. The device also includes an ARM Mali graphics processor and 2GB of RAM.
Users can get 16GB of on-board storage with an option to expand to a further 32GB using a microSD card. The Galaxy Note 10.1 is equipped with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing snapper.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 is a powerful tablet in the market. The Premium Suite update, along with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, may increase the popularity of the device. Users in other parts of the world will be hoping to get the Jelly Bean and the Premium Suite updates as soon as possible.
