Samsung's Galaxy Note 2, the world's best selling phablet, has been out since September and from Thursday became available to Verizon customers.
Verizon's Galaxy Note 2 comes with the same features, technical specifications and color variations offered by other carriers, and the device is now available on all major US networks.
Samsung's second generation Galaxy Note is a 5.5-inch phablet has a quad-core 1.6GHZ Samsung Exynos processor with 2GB RAM and features Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The device is 4G LTE compatible and is thinner than its predecessor Galaxy Note released in 2011.
Here are some of its key features:
S-Pen stylus
The Galaxy Note 2 brings significant update to its stylus which functioned as an accessory to the original Galaxy Note, but the new redesigned S-Pen can now be considered a crucial feature of the phablet.
The S-Pen is much more responsive and comes with more features than its predecessor such as Air Play, which allows Galaxy Note 2 owners to use the stylus by hovering over the screen without making contact. It can be used to perform tasks such as cropping an image, write a note to accompany the picture, and send it to a friend via text message or email, all without touching the screen.
Photo
Like its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 2 comes with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera but also includes a 'Best Faces' feature which takes five consecutive images when a photo is taken, giving users the option to choose which image they like the best.
Multi-tasking
The Galaxy Note 2 more closely resembles a PC in its operation than any other smartphone with a multi-window feature allowing you to run several apps side-by-side. These apps appear in their own windows which can be repositioned or resized, making multi-tasking a breeze.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
Rumor has it that the Galaxy Note 2 will be getting the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update sometime in Q2 2013, but for now users will have to make do with Android 4.1. The incremental update from Android Ice Cream Sandwich features a range of new features including: buffering tweaks, increased frame rates, offline voice typing, and S-Voice - a Siri like voice search facility.
Screen Recorder
You can now capture a whole sequence of actions on the screen of the Galaxy Note 2 using the Screen Recorder feature which lets you take shots of every single action on the screen. Just like a desktop PC, you can capture screenshots of any video clip, slideshow or app you are using.
The Galaxy Note 2 is available with Verizon for a two year contract starting at $299 and comes in two colors - Marble White or Titanium Grey.
