Verizon will start rolling out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to Motorola Droid RAZR HD and MAXX HD starting next week.
The carrier confirmed that the update will be pushed out to customer in phases with some customers getting the update over-the-air (OTA) as soon as next week.
Jelly Bean will bring enhancements and new features like Google Now to the Motorola Droid RAZR HD and MAXX HD. Google Now shows relevant information based on time and current location of the user. Along with Google Now users will also get a more intuitive keyboard and various performance upgrades.
Verizon also claimed that the new OS will give users improved voice and data connectivity and better native calendar settings.
The Jelly Bean update will also implement a few carrier-specific changes to the Motorola devices. The Verizon Video app and Color app will give room to a new Video calling portal and Accessories app. The Droid RAZR HD and MAXX HD will also get the full suite of Amazon apps like Kindle, Amazon MP3, IMDb, Audible, and Zappos, which was introduced in the HTC Droid DNA.
Customers will also experience an enhanced notification panel which will display missed calls and e-mails, and will enable users to return the call or reply to the e-mail straight from the notification.
"Additionally, the new software will make the DROID RAZR M the next ISIS ready smartphone. Salt Lake City and Austin are the first cities to take advantage of ISIS Mobile Wallet. Customers there will be able to turn the DROID RAZR M into their wallet and make payments by just tapping their phone at any ISIS Ready merchant," per Verizon's news release.
Users can visit Verizon's support Web page to get full details of the software update instructions and benefits of the software update of the Motorola Droid RAZR HD and MAXX HD.
