Samsung's hot-selling smartphone, the Galaxy S3, has added another Canadian carrier to its line-up. The Galaxy S3 will not be available for purchase from Koodo Mobile in Canada for $550.
Koodo Mobile, as promised, launched the Galaxy S3 on Nov. 30. The smartphone is already available for purchase on other carriers like Rogers, Bell, and TELUS.
Koodo is currently retailing the Pebble Blue version of the Galaxy S3 (16GB) for $550.
The Galaxy S3 can also be bought using Koodo's "Tab option," which basically lets users run a price or "tab towards the price of a new phone," negating the necessity of a fixed-term contract if a consumer so desires. It's a flexible option and lets eligible consumers get a phone without paying the full retail price, and is sans an "annoying contract."
Additionally, those who purchase the smartphone from Koodo's retail stores will be entitled to a $100 bonus gift at the time of buying. The bonus gift, however, is only valid for new activations on the Tab and while stocks last.
The Galaxy S3 is being offered by Rogers for as low as $99.99 on select three-year plans in both Pebble Blue and Marble White colors. TELUS is offering the smartphone in red, blue, and white for just $99 on a three-year contract. Carrier Bell too is offering the Galaxy S3 in red, blue, and white for $99.95 on a three-year contract.
With competitive pricing for the Galaxy S3 on other major Canadian carriers, it remains to be seen if Koodo can stake its claim as well. At $550 the Koodo offering seems expensive by comparison even if it is free of contractual obligations.
