Google forayed into the tablet space earlier this year with the launch of its ASUS-made Nexus 7. The budget-friendly tablet met with an overwhelming response and went on to become a runaway success, trouncing rival 7-inch tablets in the bargain.
Recently, on Oct. 29, Google announced the availability of a 32GB variant (both Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi and HSPA+ versions), and upgraded the tablet to the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. Currently, only the 16GB and 32GB versions of the Nexus 7 are officially available from the Google Play Store as the company phased out its 8GB version.
"The Nexus 7 (8GB) is no longer available for sale," notes the Google Play Store.
With the tablet still selling like hot cakes, the Nexus 7 is one of the top budget tablets around. Even the launch of the iPad mini has not been able to cause substantial damage to the tablet's sales and market share.
Here's a look at where you can buy the Nexus 7 this holiday season.
U.S.
The 7-inch Nexus 7 is available via the Google Play Store in three variants 16GB (Wi-Fi), 32GB (Wi-Fi), and 32GB (Wi-Fi and HSPA+) for $199, $249, and $299, respectively.
Google introduced a 32GB HSPA+ model so that the tablet could become more mobile and was functional on GSM providers worldwide.
Alternately, the Nexus 7 tablet can also be purchased via retail store Wal-Mart. E-retailer Amazon too has the tablet listed, but at a premium as the 32GB and 16GB models will cost $269 and $253, respectively. The e-retailer even has the 8GB version listed but be prepared to pay $239.
Consumers can also head to eBay and get their hands on the Nexus 7. However, here too buying a 32GB (Wi-Fi + 3G) version would cost users $365, which is more than the original price. The Nexus 7 is also available at Gamestop, Office Depot, Office Max, and Staples.
U.K.
Several UK stores like Dixons, PC World, Currys, Comet, Carphone Warehouse, Tesco, Asda, Argos, Game, and John Lewis have the Nexus 7 up for sale. The Nexus 7 is available on the Google Play Store and the 16GB (Wi-Fi), 32GB (Wi-Fi), and 32GB (Wi-Fi and HSPA+) versions will cost £159, £199, and £239, respectively.
Alternately, interested buyers can also check out e-retailers like Clove and eBuy. The Nexus 7 tablet, according to ASUS, is "the most successful Android tablet ever to launch in the UK."
With Christmas a few weeks away, get shopping and pick up the Nexus 7 tablet this holiday season from the retailer of your choice.
