Rumors surrounding Samsung's purported Galaxy S4 smartphone, the successor to its Galaxy S3, have been gathering steam for a while now. A new report indicates that the Korean company is working on a secret "Project J", the codename for the Galaxy S4, and will launch the alleged smartphone in April 2013.
According to SamMobile, Samsung will announce the Galaxy S4 next year and the site was tipped off by an insider.
"Today we were tipped about some fresh new rumors about upcoming Samsung products.
Let start with the best part called: Project J," reported SamMobile.
Per the Web site, the new project name 'Project J' is for the next Galaxy S device. The tipster was unable to confirm the rumored specification of the next-gen smartphone and only knew "the new project name called: Project J for the next Galaxy."
The constant spate of rumors point to a 5-inch full HD AMOLED display with 1080p for the Galaxy S4. The smartphone is expected to sport a quad-core processor, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera.
If a new Galaxy S4 was not enough, Samsung (if the speculations bear fruition) is also slated to launch a new basic version of its immensely popular phablet - the Galaxy Note 2. This device will be headed for Europe and will have lower specs than the existing Galaxy Note 2. The report discloses that Samsung will do away with its popular S Pen stylus and may possibly not employ the Super AMOLED screen as well.
"The new basic Galaxy Note II isn't the name of this device but Samsung is having plans to introduce a Galaxy Note II variant for Europe with lower specs. Samsung wants everyone to try bigger screens. Samsung will remove the SPEN function so what the real Galaxy Note II owner will have is special. We think Samsung will not use sAMOLED in this device," noted SamMobile.
If these two devices weren't enough to assure a busy season ahead for Samsung, the company is also rumored to have a new tablet in the pipeline. The alleged tablet will supposedly throw the gauntlet to the well-received ASUS Transformer series. Samsung it is reported will introduce a new 13.3-inch tablet with a QWERTY dock option in tow.
This move would allow Samsung to tap into the tablet space where some users like using a tablet, but at the same prefer to type via a QWERTY keyboard since it's faster. The new 13.3-inch tablet it is conjectured would be able to do both like ASUS' Transformer series. The tipster, however, was unable to disclose which OS would be employed on the tablet.
With a slew of supposed new devices up its sleeve, Samsung it seems is gearing up to take 2013 by storm and retain its stronghold in the consumer market.
