Good news for Apple fans all around the world. Per reports, Apple has decided to remove the two per customer purchasing limit for the iPhone 5, which means that consumers will be able to buy more than two handsets at a time.
The latest decision from Apple is a sign that the company’s iPhone 5 stocks are returning to normal and are at an optimum level, which in turn means that that the company will be able to meet the demand of customers during the holiday shopping season.
Apple first imposed the two per customer rule after it was reported that there had been a notable shortage in iPhone 5 supplies. Foxconn reported that since the phone’s launch it was having trouble keeping up with demand. To help ease the supply burden, Apple instituted a two-handsets-per-customer rule. However, that limitation has been lifted now that supply issues are being sorted out by the Cupertino-based company.
While Apple hasn’t officially said anything on the matter, it has been noted that the stipulation “two per customer” for the iPhone 5 has been removed from Apple’s online store. Moreover, it also seems the ten-per-lifetime rule is also gone. Per a MacRumors report, customers are instead imposed with a ten-per-transaction limit, with no lifetime limit on the number that can be bought.
As far as in-store availability is concerned, per a 9to5Mac report “a prime place for holiday shoppers, analyst Gene Munster noted Nov. 21 that in-store stock for the iPhone 5 has improved. At the time, the iPhone 5 was available in 92 percent of Apple Stores for Sprint, 82 percent for AT&T, and 72 percent for Verizon. As of now, the iPhone 5 is readily available for those looking to buy it this holiday.”
One of the reasons for Apple to remove this stipulation could be the upcoming iPhone 5, iPad mini, and iPad 4's releasse in China, as the demand for these devices will be met by Apple very shortly. The iPhone 5 is set to go on sale in China later this month.
The iPhone 5 has a 4-inch Retina screen and an anodized aluminum body. The device runs an A6 chip, and is the same width as the iPhone 4S despite sporting a bigger display.
