Rumors suggest that HTC's next flagship smartphone, HTC M7, will make its appearance at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Feb. 2013.
The rumors also indicate that the smartphone will be released as soon as March next year in an attempt to attract customers before the much-awaited Galaxy S4 lands in the market.
The HTC M7 is expected to pack in high-end features. The smartphone is expected to sport a 4.7-inch full HD display with 1980 x 1080 pixels resolution. At 468 pixels per inch (ppi), M7's display resolution would be 40 percent higher than the much-touted Retina display of the iPhone 5.
The smartphone is expected to have a SoLux display, which is supposedly superior to the Super LCD 2 panel found on the HTC One X and HTC One X+.
A Snapdragon S4 Pro chip, clocked at 1.7GHz may power the smartphone. The handset is expected to be equipped with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with an f/2.0 lens, dubbed as CineSensor. The phone will also have a front-facing camera but the sensor details are not known.
The rumors indicate that the smartphone will support HDR video and super slow-motion recording. The phone will have 32GB or internal memory and users will hope that the storage can be expanded using a microSD card. The smartphone is expected to have 2GB or RAM.
Similar to the current high-end HTC smartphones, users will hope that the latest M7 gets Beats Audio and stereo speakers for an enhanced music experience.
With the rumors of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie gaining traction, users will hope that the smartphone runs on Key Lime Pie; however, with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean rolled out to HTC devices it is expected that the smartphone will run on Jelly Bean.
A 2300mAh battery will fuel the M7. To keep abreast with the latest connectivity abilities, the smartphone should have Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Near-Field Communication (NFC) capabilities.
It will be interesting to see if the M7 is made available globally or will be region specific like the HTC J Butterfly and Droid DNA. Furthermore, smartphone enthusiasts in the U.S. will also hope that major carriers offer the smartphone.
We will have to wait and see when HTC officially announces the M7.
