Samsung may be best known for its smartphones, phablets, and tablets, but it also has a universal audio docking station on the way.
Samsung already has its own range of wireless stereo systems, but the leaked audio docking station seems to be a slightly different take on the recipe. Unlike the company's existing range of high-end wireless stereo systems, this docking station appears to be aimed at the more general audio consumer.
According to a Sam Mobile report (Monday, Dec. 17), Samsung is preparing to unleash a new type of audio docking station for all of its smartphones, sporting a micro USB connection at the bottom.
The new universal audio docking station from Samsung will reportedly have a maximum power of 6W, 3W on both sides, and will be available in three color options: the classical black, a soothing silver color, and a bold red option.
Users will be able to connect their smartphone to the new docking station through three different input methods. The devices can be connected either via Bluetooth 3.0, via a 3.5 plugin cable, or via the micro USB.
Samsung is expected to show off its new audio docking station either at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) or the Mobile World Congress (MWC), while the device itself is expected to hit stores in the first quarter of 2013.
The leaked audio docking station is slightly less powerful than Samsung's current DA-E570 gadget, which boasts two 5W speakers. On the other hand, this would make sense if the new docking station is aimed at the more general consumer, and would sport a more accessible price tag.
Samsung did not offer any official details on the rumored audio docking station, and pricing details remain unknown at this time. As the company has not yet announced its new product, all leaks and rumors are to be taken with a grain of salt.
Meanwhile, the docking station looks quite appealing should the leak prove to be true, and it would add more options for the growing Samsung fan base. The company has enjoyed wide success with its latest range of devices, and accessories for popular products are always welcome.
