Those who thought Nokia smartphones are underpowered and pushovers, better think again. The mid-range Nokia Lumia 620 Windows Phone 8 device is shaping up to be something special - per a GSMArena report, the phone managed to better the Samsung Galaxy S3 in SunSpider and Browser Mark 2 tests.
Seeing the Nokia Lumia 920 best the Galaxy S3 is not surprising since the Lumia 920 is a newer high-end smartphone. However, though the Lumia 620 is new, it was positioned as a mid-range device and wasn't expected to best the Galaxy S3 in browser speed. Lumia 620 costs $250 or around half the price of Samsung's flagship phone and is also inferior where hardware specifications are concerned.
The only way the Lumia 620 could have bested the Galaxy S3 in SunSpider and Browser Mark 2 browser test, is if Internet Explorer 10 in Windows Phone 8 is truly better than the Web browser the Galaxy S3 has to offer.
"We really like what we've seen from the Nokia Lumia 620 so far. The smartphone is decently quick, has a nice youthful styling and arguably gives the best bang for your buck in the Microsoft camp. It's more than certain that the flashy paint jobs will resonate with a younger demographic, but it's exactly the target audience Nokia and Microsoft would want to get on board," noted GSMArena. "By the way, if Nokia gave the Lumia 620 a slightly more serious styling, it would have probably killed the HTC 8S. Instead, the Finns made it possible for the two smartphones to co-exist, thus giving the platform as a whole a better shot at growth."
The benchmark tests proves with the Lumia 620, Nokia has a winner on its hands. So don't be surprised if it does better than the Lumia 920 in terms of sale, because $250 is a complete steal for a device like this.
