Two of Sony's upcoming smartphone models, Odin and Yuga, have been in news for the past several months with new information flowing in almost every day. This time around, as expected, more information about the two handsets has arrived, and needless to say that they are even more intimidating.
Since the first time that both the devices were teased on the web, they sounded quite similar with both apparently sporting 1080p displays. Now, per the latest claims, the Odin is believed to go up for sale, renaming it as the Xperia X.
Moreover, while the Odin will have a slightly different look as compared to the Yuga (or Xperia Z), Sony could bring out both the handsets being a mirror image of one another. It is also believed that while the Xperia Z will be available in some markets, the Xperia X will be available in others.
"The Odin may end up being sold as the Sony Xperia X. That's got a nice sound to it, and the letter X is very used in all sorts of branding. However, Sony is slowly going to run out of letters to slap on its products after the Xperia name, so it will be interesting to see how it handles that situation," an unwiredview.com report states.
Chinese media is also reporting that Sony will be holding a press conference in the country on Jan. 15, 2013 to announce the launch of the new smartphones. This, however, shouldn't come as a shock to most as it is widely expected that the first official news on new Xperia handsets will appear at the CES tradeshow in Las Vegas, which starts on Jan. 8, 2013.
Details and specs involving both the smartphones are still unknown.
This is a brand new development to the new Sony handsets in recent weeks after it was previously reported that Yuga could make its retail debut after the company renames it as the Xperia Z at launch.
Like so many of these other fabled 1080p Androids, the Xperia Z should pack a five-inch display. According to the source providing the phone's name, the screen will employ Sony OptiContrast technology, as also used on few other recent Sony phones and tablets, for a bolder picture," a Pocketnow report then added.
