Samsung is in the mood to spread some New Year cheer to the folks in India. The Korean giant has dropped the prices of the Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy S Duos, and the Galaxy Ace Duos.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 originally went on sale in India for Rs.43,180; however, the price was slashed in September to Rs.34,900 and the smartphone is now available for Rs.31,990. The Galaxy Note phablet launched at Rs.29,990, but is now available for Rs.27,500.
Next up is the Galaxy S Duos, launched in September for Rs.17,900. The handset is now available for Rs.14,900 thanks to the price revision. The Samsung Galaxy S Duos is no slouch as it features a 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera, and runs on Android 4.0. Finally, the Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos that launched in June for Rs.15,090 is now available for Rs.10,900. The Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos is powered by a 832MHz processor, has 3GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to an additional 32GB via a microSD card, and 512MB memory.
By slashing the price of these smartphones, Samsung is positioning itself for an early 2013 success in India, the company could also be preparing to launch other devices in the market such as the Galaxy S4, a device that has begun to feature quite often in the rumor mill.
CES 2013 in January and MWC 2013 in February should prove to be interesting, depending on what Samsung chooses to announce at these prestigious events.
